The demise of McCarren Pool has created an outcry of sound and fury, and who could be better to give it a sendoff than Sonic Youth? They were in top form last Saturday night, so if our aging rocker hearts were breaking, at least the heartbreak was expressed in pure punk style.

The Aesop performance at the McCarren Pool Party on 8/17/08 was a much different experience than when MGMT performed at the same venue. With help from DJ Big Whiz, Aesop Rock dropped that bass and kept the crowd bumping throughout the night.

Getting Stuck Back into the London Underground

This Sunday saw me back behind my old bar, serving up drinks and sass in nearly equal measure. Blessed was I, for this was no ordinary night; a dozen local bands and DJs had turned up to play, and I was to catch the culmination of the event. Local hero, Kate Nash, closed night who had her first ever gig at this very bar.
