By Nancy Lichtenstein
October 17th, 2008

I recently caught up with Mark Englert, aka Mr. E Boy, lead guitarist for Dramarama, a major cult hero and someone I hadn’t seen in…yikes…17 years?!? Mark was kind enough to answer some questions about the band and its future.

“Heavy Metal Drummer” Girl

By Nancy Lichtenstein
September 30th, 2008

It took some bravery to walk into the music store a couple of weeks ago and tell the owner I wanted to sign up for drumming lessons on the eve of my 40th birthday. Especially when his immediate response was, “Okay…but can I ask WHY you want to do this now?”

McCarren Pool Is Melting In The Dark: Sonic Youth Live in Brooklyn

By Nancy Lichtenstein
September 6th, 2008

My first job offer when I graduated was with a French video equipment company writing marketing materials, however, and [...]

Songs With Long Intros

By Nancy Lichtenstein
August 3rd, 2008

A couple of weeks ago I was chatting with a friend on Facebook while completing some writing assignments—well, more accurately I was procrastinating about completing some writing assignments BY chatting with the friend—and asked him to send me a song. He sent me a link to “I Will Possess Your Heart” by Deathcab for Cutie [...]
