Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands just kills me. Sometimes I cannot even listen too it because it's just too much. Beyond masterpiece.

Couldn't agree more with:

WHEN THE LEVY BREAKS FROM Led Zeppelin IV
GOODBYE from Madman Across The Water by Elton John;
FREE BIRD on Lynyrd Skynyrd's self titled first album;
WHIPPING POST on The Allman Brothers;
WIND UP from Jethro Tull's Agualung;
JUNGLELAND from Born to Run;
LOVE REIGN O'ER ME from Quadrophenia; and
THE END on The Doors

And let's not forget:

KARNEVIL 9 (Welcome Back My Friends...)on Brain Salad Surgery by ELP;
CLOSE TO THE EDGE on Yes' Close To The Edge ablum;
CLOSING TIME from Lyle Lovett's self titled debut album;
and for pure sublimity,

"The End" by the Doors is the best closing track of any album, ever. It doesn't even matter what type of music you personally enjoy. The only exception: You could be legally retarded...seriously. IF you're LD or something, it will go over YOUR head.

A few more to consider next time and some of my personal favorites to end an album go as:

Whipping Post - The Allman Brothers debut album.

Caroline No - Pet Sounds

Good Night - The Beatles (White Album) through all the mess and overload of songs none fit better than Ringo whispering "Good Night"

Toad - Fresh Cream, being a drummer the first time listening to the album straight through the song reminded me who was the motor of this band no other than Ginger Baker.

The End - The Doors, need i say more.

Riders On The Storm - L.A. Woman, almost a send off like Mr. Morrison was packing his bags.

All Apologies - In Utero, through all the alternative and heavy attack we see Kurt Cobain's Pop influences.

Freedom - Rage Against the Machine debut album, from start to finish it seems like this album never stops and the band pounding the message into us.

Only In Dreams - Weezer debut "Blue" album

The closing track to XTC's "Oranges and Lemons" is "Chalkhills and Children". Maybe the band's best song.

I'm surprised "The Show Must Go On" from Queen's Innuendo album wasn't included here. Not only is it their best final track, but it was Freddie's goodbye to the fans--and he delivered.

Great tracks. Radiohead have far too many, they seem to be particularly strong at great closing tracks: Street Spirit, The Tourist, Motion Picture Soundtrack, Life in a Glasshouse, A wolf at the Door. Some of the best tracks they've ever written, and that's saying something!
And for the guy who was saying "where is my mind?" , that's cheating a bit! But yeah it carries the film out in true style. Another one I love is hearing "paint it black" at the end of Stanley Kubrick's FMJ

Wow jay are you serious? since when does an album need to collect dust for a few decades to get critical acclaim.

Btw wheres Goodbye from Madman Across The Water by Elton John. Not a great single, but a perfect closing melody to wrap up one of the great albums ever.

Nothing in return (walk away) from Over the Under by Down.

But also the closing songs from Down's previous albums - Bury me in smoke from NOLA and Landing on the Mountains of Meggido from II: A bustle in your hedgerow - are easily best of their kind.

Let me just say that you guys dropped the ball by not including marvin Gaye`s Inner City Blues from his epic album What`s Going On.From an album that expresses his fears and concerns for a country mixed up in racial riots and a doomed war in Vietnam, the song with it`s moody and dark undertones is like a plea for the sane to take back control of the asylum.Oh yeah, and it`s a pretty cool tune as well.
