Have you heard of Truth On Earth? They are a social action band that write and sing about heavy issues. They are a group of 3 young sisters that have devoted their lives to making a difference. Their song on poverty is called Starvation Diet. Their site is Truthonearthband.com Some lyrics:
“Better heed this warning of our time – Losing cultures dying on the vine
Need an economic plan in place – So we don’t destroy the human race
Just take this last breath and bottle it up – you’ll need it later with your hand and cup
The feeling of hunger is a painful one – As soon as you fill it you’ll be glad you’re done

It’s all a starvation diet – Why does it have to be that way?
If you want to die – You’ll try it – Let’s hope the future provides a better day
It’s just a starvation diet – We could change it if we wanted to
To stop ‘em suffering, don’t buy it – Let’s build a planet that’s good for me and you
