We English majors may not have a great deal to recommend us at the job fair outside of an ability to identify a good comma splice, but we do have our own place in the music world. Somebody has to spell-check all those lyrics, after all, and the most astute rockers have paid proper tribute: “Paperback Writer” by The Beatles

Loved this, great idea for a post! Romeo and Juliet is one of my favorite songs in the world, along with Skateaway from the same album. And I would have added Elvis Costello’s “Everyday I Write The Book,” which has one of my favorite song lyrics ever: “Even in a perfect world where everyone was equal, I’d still own the film rights and be working on a sequel.” |
