Editor’s Note: As an introduction, our newest contributor Desiree shares her top 10 albums of all time.

Though I love all types and genres of music, I still believe there are a few albums that deserve more recognition than others. Everyone should own the 10 albums that are listed below. No exceptions. Even if you don’t like the specific artists, you should still check out these albums. Note that the albums are not “numbered.” I consider all of these albums to be No. 1.

Radiohead — In Rainbows
OK. You’re probably wondering why I didn’t list Pablo Honey or OK Computer instead. Don’t get me wrong, I debated this. Pablo Honey is a classic, but their newest album, In Rainbows, is disgustingly good. Listen to the symphonic “All I Need” (track 5), and you’ll realize that this album is the only Radiohead album you’ll need.

30 Seconds to Mars30 Seconds to Mars
It pisses me off when people tell me that 30 Seconds to Mars and Jared Leto are just for pubescent teenagers. “A Beautiful Lie” is definitely something to listen to, but their self titled deserves credit for the fact that the Leto brothers (Jared and Shannon) recorded the whole album by themselves. The atmospheric “Echelon” should be the first track you listen to on this album.

Neko Case — Blacklisted
Many people have probably never heard of this independent alternative-country artist for the fact that, well… she’s independent. Open your ears to this, you’ll be surprised what you find. Her smoky vocal range will make you crave more.

TOOL — Ænima
Simply because of the song, “Ænima.” But, the whole album is great. Maynard is a musical genius, and that’s all there really is to say about that. Just listen!

Pearl Jam — Ten
Track nine, “Garden,” explains most of it. Though it’s from the 1991, it still can be considered a classic. This is also one of those albums that is easy to listen to all the way through. This album had singles that put Pearl Jam on the map as one of the best alternative rock bands. Ten was also controversial for the music video for “Jeremy,” which makes it that much better.

Alice in Chains — Jar Of Flies
With all of this album’s simplicity (there’s only 7 tracks), it’s incredible. If you haven’t heard track two on this album, “Nutshell,” you need to go listen to it. Like, NOW. Lanyne Staley will always be missed for his unique voice.

Jeff Buckley – Grace
It’s a shame that Mr. Buckley is no longer with us. Though he’s gone, I believe he still has one of the most amazing voices today. “Lover, You Should Have Come Over” and “Hallelujah” will take you into another world.

OURS – Dancing for the Death of an Imaginary Enemy
Yes, I’m biased. OURS is my favorite band, but there’s a reason for it. I persistently try to get people to listen to their albums, but mainly, I try to get people to go to their shows. This album is on the list simply because the tour for Dancing for the Death was astounding. There are drums, trumpets, plenty of guitars, and the best vocals you’ll ever hear in your life.

Nine Inch Nails – Still
Not many people have this album or have heard of it (so I hear), but it is splendid. It’s basically songs that are re-made, but Reznor made them slow and soothing for even easier listening. The version of “Something I Can Never Have” will probably make you cry like a 12-year-old girl.

Ours – Distorted Lullabies
Again, not many people have heard of this band, and if you haven’t, you need to get this album first before any of the other Ours albums. I’m sorry I’m so biased, but I’m telling you, Jimmy Gnecco, the lead singer, has one of the best damn voices I have ever heard in my life. Every time I listen to him, I literally get goosebumps. I guess I’d have to compare his voice to Jeff Buckley’s or even Thom Yorke’s, but he stands out from the rest. Don’t ask questions, just go buy the album and you’ll understand.

Great list, I would’ve added Muse Abolution as well. Never heard of Neko Case, I might have to explore them.

This list makes me smile because I am a proud supporter of both 30stm and Ours, and I would have to agree with you that Maynard is a musical genius I dont think many people would dispute the fact. Nice beginning to an amazing career my dear ;)
