News of the renowned producer Steve Lillywhite hosting a new radio show series should be very exciting to anyone wanting to go literally behind the music.  While he is currently in Dublin, Ireland turning knobs and sharing opinions on sessions for the new U2 album, Steve will soon be part of a new show for WXPN / NPR’s World Cafe.  While radio comes across these days as a relatively sleepy land, developments such as this bring back hope to a lost medium.

Steve recently ended a stay at Columbia Records where he served as an A&R person and staff producer, working on such projects as Perry Ferrell’s Satellite Party album and signing the hot group MGMT.  He won the Grammy for Producer of the Year for his work on U2’s most recent  How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb album.  His work with U2 stretches all the way to the beginning of their career and his soulful touch appears to have a forward trajectory with Bono and the gang.

But he cannot be pinned down.  His career also includes stints working with Dave Matthews Band, Peter Gabriel, Morrissey, Chris Cornell, Talking Heads, Rolling Stones, Travis, Phish, Jason Mraz,  & Crowded House among many others.

Tune in!
