It’s a bit of a joke making its way around the game & music communities, but are the suburbs ready to the rock the sitar? Tuba Hero? Gospel Band? Triangle Hero? (think about that one for a second) Polka Band? The Amazon reviews would probably go something like, “Oh my god, this plastic accordion is so fake…”

If you remain one of the people who indeed are snarkily laughing at the idea of holding a plastic guitar, its just one of those you need to bow down to and try. Sort of like when you were offered the gig of planning Tommy Lee’s bachelor party… it sounded so over the top that you just couldn’t stop laughing before it happened. But then it did happen and it turned out to be a great night with friends. And the rash will eventually go away.

Of course purists and real musicians will argue that Rock Band and Guitar Hero are nothing like actually playing the guitar or drums… that’s sorta like saying Mortal Kombat is nothing like being in a real street fight. What these virtual music games are is a whole lot of fun and taking air guitar to a whole new level of dorkdom.

But it also salutes the rock song and allows you to get inside the very thing that makes you pump your fist, makes you want to scream, makes you want to break stuff.

What’s next in virtual gaming? Iron Chef Hero? Porn Hero? Accountant Band?

Have you seen? They actually have come out with an actual air guitar. I think it’s for Wii.

Honestly, I louve that idea of Sitar Hero. Call me Worldly. And hey? How affordable is a gaming system in India?
