Kurt Cobain would have been 41 years old today. A truly influential artist with the band he famously fronted, it is curious to think where Kurt and Nirvana would be today had he, to borrow a phrase from his wife’s famous album, lived through this… Would Nirvana still be together? Touring? Removed the shackles of the major label system? Possibly put out a sub-par album eventually? And would Kurt have allowed Dave to prosper as a solo artist? Would the world have heard all the great Foo Fighters music? We reached Nirvana, but then what?

I actually wrote a memory about Nirvana and how the changed my whole outlook on music and how they had such an impact on music throughout the early 90’s. I don’t know where they would be now, but I sure wish they were still around. Rachel Burke said:
Ditto, Nirvana opened up a lot of music to me too…I think the band would be broken up, doing their own things, but probably regrouping every so often for a performance/tour. Bet Kurt would be making some great music still. Like David Grohl has been…still having fun, still rocking. Krist10 said:
If Kurt was still around, I doubt Nirvana would still be together. Undoubtedly they’d all still be making music, just separated. Nirvana probably would not have reached the status that they now hold, as sad as it is to say. It’s well known that artists become bigger legends after death. If Kurt still was alive today, I strongly believe that David Grohl probably would have been a drummer. And America wouldn’t get to see the strong talent that he has. With Nirvana, I think David/Krist weren’t recognized, and given the props for also making Nirvana what it was. All the props/glory throughout the grunge time, seemed to go to Kurt. Don’t’ get me wrong, Kurt was the king of grunge, but I don’t think the band’s sound wouldn’t have been anything without the works of David/Krist. Erinn Soule said:
