Rock ‘n Roll Fantasy CampBy

The South By Southwest Festival 2008 is coming upon us. For those who are not familiar with the event, it is a conference in glorious Austin, TX in mid-March, largely overlapping with the UT Austin college kids being on spring break. While they’re away, people near and far take over the downtown area for a week of film, new media (is that even a term anymore?) and probably the biggest draw of the week, music. It really is a rock ‘n roll fantasy camp for many. Imagine witnessing Slash, Tom Morello and Perry Ferrell, all on stage in a tiny venue at 1 am performing each other’s songs, as this author witnessed. Camp time aside, it is a great time to meet and see musicians and the people behind them in very close quarters, hear them give their insights on a wide range of topics during discussion panels and see Your New Favorite band play while you drink tequila and eat BBQ. Paste Magazine has a very cool breakdown of the trends behind the artists featured at SXSW. But more importantly, JamsBio will be representin’ during the SXSW week. If you’re there, we’d love to meet up with you for SXSW goodness. Ping us at feedback@jamsbio.com And if you can’t make it down, stay posted to the JamsBio Biolog for live & direct reports of all things SXSW.
