Everyone has skeletons, and looking back, I have to say that one of my favorite shows as a kid was “Knight Rider”. I was such a hard-core fan that I risked life & limb to sneak a little TV into my bed to catch the two-hour special involving the KITT Trans-Am fighting the evil KARR Trans-Am which was way-past my bedtime.

Now as an older person who pays bills and would love to go to bed at 8pm, I’m here watching the new incarnation of “Knight Rider” and I’m about as amused as Paris Hilton in a math class. What the original “Knight Rider” lacked in believability it made up for by an overly enthusiastic performance by, dare I say it, Hasselhoff. Completely on-par with Shatner.

To borrow a line from Alan Moore, an infamous graphic novelist, sometimes a magic trick done with $5 is much more compelling than a $100 million magic trick. That’s the feeling here… technology has come such a long way since the 80s, but watching this show it feels a bit like a Microsoft Windows Media Center KITT edition commercial crossed with a Ford Mustang video brochure. Given the writer’s strike, was this show written as a class project at an MBA school?

Has anyone noticed that the best show on television probably has the shortest TV theme song in history? And it’s not the new “Knight Rider”.
